Art is often created as a product of our failures. It can serve as an expression of these mistakes and turn something perceived to be negative into something beautiful.
As a perfectionist myself, I know the fear of failure all too well. It is a constant battle. However, this concern always falls second to an even greater fear: never fully devoting myself to doing what I love.
Acting has taught me to unlearn my fear of failure and instead, embrace it wholeheartedly. Acting invokes truth and helps to heal a hurting world by exhibiting to people that the flawed and complicated nature of humanity is not something to hide, but something to celebrate and perform. As an actor I am privileged to nurture these failures and expose the truth and beauty of our imperfect society. Through the artistic process I find power in my faults because it allows me to authentically share stories about our flawed humanity;
and our failures are a gift I refuse to hide.
